Doesn't smell even close to salt. Smells very clean. If you're looking for a scent reminiscent of childhood (say Kindergarten), this may be it. It smells EXACTLY like the clear Softsoap liquid hand soap (you know, the one with the fish on it)...

A perfumey, beachy fragrance that was missing that sharp tangy true salt note I was looking for. This rests in a weird place between floral and light-bakery -- it's too perfumey to work for a savory salt note in foody blends, but it also doesn't smell like the ocean to me. It's a fine blender, though. Purchased in SOS concentration....

This has a weird stale smell that overtakes the sea salt smell. I only smelled this in a blend and I only added a small amount. I prefer other sea salts for my ocean blends.

I ordered this to add as an ocean-type note to a woody blend and it is just so overpowering and not in a good way. Like it makes the back of my throat want to dry up when I smell it. I would agree with other reviews that it might work better in a food scent application. I just don't see it working in a nature or ocean type of way. And I feel like you would not need much to get its effect. I added and added and added tree fragrances and they just couldn't overtake the small amount of the sea salt I had put in to test....

A beautiful 'sea' scent. Floral, salty, and cottony. Very light.

Same as last time I ordered. Sweet more than salty. Ordered in Extreme Sniffie Sample.

Beautiful salty marine accord. Great for blending with eucalyptus, neroli, sage, lavender, cedar...you name it.

A sharp salt note. I use for blending. Adds a more distinct tone to the scents I'm making. Works well in beach scents.

SOS candlemaking. This is so far the closest I've found to the sharp salt smell of the ocean. A little too much sweet in it for me, but still fairly close.

A little sweet with the salty. Was hoping for more strong pure salt scent. Nice.

Got in extreme and it's one of my favorites! There is definitely a buttery popcorn quality, but when blended it really does lend a salty airiness. Used in soy candles.

I don't know if I would say it smells like sea salt, but I really like it a lot! It's something you can't really put your finger on but it's a light aquatic floral, like someone else said.

not quite a true salt note; the salt is there, but more of a background to a floral blend. very beachy and aquatic, but not accurate to the name.

I ordered the ultra concentration for adding a beachy note in perfume blends, but this is way too buttery popcorn-y for my tastes. It's a great novelty scent, or could be good in gourmands maybe with some caramel and chocolate notes, but I dunno -- maybe I was sent the "sea salted popcorn" by mistake, because there is NOTHING marine like or oceanic salty about what I have....

Is slightly more perfume-y than I'd like it to be, but we've used it successfully in a perfume blend. Bought SNIFFIE.

I bought this in ultra and used for whipped shea butter. It was very strong and salty smelling. It did have a "popcorn" type of quality to it: more so than a beach quality. I used it by itself; maybe as other reviewers have pointed out, it is a good addition to other scents. Still a good, strong scent....

I like this ..I didn't like it as first in the SOS ..but as I put it with a blend for a beach note it was perfect ...added that hint of beach salt that I was looking for ...

Like a lot of "oceany" scents, this doesn't really feel authentic out of the bottle--it's a little sweet and foody by itself. Ordered in Extreme for use in perfumery, I've found that it's the perfect add-in for blends needing something a little more lively. Depending on what it's added to, it can either take on very watery qualities or become very animal. It mellows out scents that become too "bright" and kicks up scents that feel too one-dimensional. This is definitely a permanent scent for my library....

Wow. On it's own it's a bit too much like a popcorn scent, but mixed with another scent it's amazing. I've used this with a leather based men's cologne and with some chocolate caramel scent. It's also great with floral tones. Tested with SOS oil and soy wax in a tart warmer...

To me this is oceanic, salty and fresh while also having a hint of something deeper....sweeter...but not tropical. I really love this one, I use it for soy candles and perfume essence oils.

Bought this in SOS. I didn't really get the popcorn smell people are talking about. Smells salty, though not the same as sticking your nose in a salt-shaker.

I like this scent for itself, but it doesn't remotely resemble the sea. It is, as others have said, salted butter. It doesn't mix down, either, so it can only be used for very specific blends. Not as advertised, but not disgusting....

I would have preferred far more salt and far less popcorn and sugar in this scent. It might work as a blender, as a couple of other folks have said, but by itself it smells like kettle corn. I would like it if SOS reformulates this to shift the balance of the scent....
